Introduction to Rock Mechanics

As a part of development in Tunnel engineering, the university provides an elective course of Rock Mechanics in the sixth semester. This course presents a comprehensive introduction to rock mechanics and its applications for civil and tunnel engineering. The course is designed for future civil engineers who will work on projects in rock engineering. Major topics of the course include – introduction to rock structures, rock and rock mass properties, rock engineering for underground openings, and rock slope engineering.

Tunnel & Underground Structures

An elective course on Tunnel and Underground Structures is provided in the seventh semester of the Civil Engineering Program. The course focuses on the design, development, and stability of underground structures. With the rapid development of hydropower in the country, there is much need for specialized engineers in the field for the economic and safe design of the projects. With laboratory facilities provided, the course aims in providing practical knowledge to support students to develop their careers as tunnel engineers.
