On December 4, 2019, Prof. Krishna Kanta Panthi from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) visited Kathmandu University (KU) for a guest lecture on ‘Introduction to Geology and Rock Engineering Challenges in Nepal‘. During the lecture Prof. Panthi talked about the Himalayas and the challenges of Rock Engineering in the region. Finally, he concluded by talking about the future perspectives of rock engineering in Nepal. The lecture was organized by Kathmandu University Civil Engineering Club in association with Rock Mechanics and Underground Structure Lab, Kathmandu University. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Dambar Bahadur Nepali, Dean of School of Engineering and was attended by Prof. Bhola Thapa, Prof. Hari Neopane, Dr. Biraj Singh Thapa, Dr. Shyam Sundar Khadka and the event ended with closing speech by Dr. Prachand Man Pradhan, Head of Civil Engineering Department.
